I got an 84 on the first test and there are only three tests. Also, the school I goes to counts only grades above 93 as a 4.0, and 90-92 is a 3.7. So, should I drop the course because its basically impossible to get a 4.0. Its also my first semester of college.

You don't need a 4.0 to get into med school. Relax.

How many credit hours are you taking? Are you still within the time frame to drop without record? What class is this?

This class is honors logical and critical thinking. I am currently taking 16 hours and if I drop this course I would have 13 hours

If I were you, I wouldn't drop it. As a senior in college, I've realized that non-science grades don't really matter as long as they are B or higher. And I'm a non-science major so I have taken a LOT of non-science courses and had my mix of awesome classes where I was really on top of my stuff and not-so-awesome classes. And yet I'm still considered competitive for D.O. schools.

Of course if you are hoping to go to a "top" allopathic school, then it would matter a bit more. But even if you pull that up to a B+ or an A-, the grade won't matter in the long term but what you learn from that class will.

Don't give up. Sometimes I was jealous of my pre-med classmates with Bio majors since they often didn't have to worry about non-science stuff. But in the end, I sincerely think my unique major has enriched my life and I don't regret my route.

You think 3+ threads about this was necessary?

This has to be a joke.....right?

I failed like 2 midterms and 1 final my first semester in college and I still got like a 3.2 that term. you are fine. Arguably my hardest term in college, a lot of the intro classes were meant to weed out students.

Just letting everyone know. I never ended up dropping the class. In fact, I ended up making an A in the class somehow so I don't know. Take from that what you will.

nope. you have no shot in med school anymore because of that 84.

Glad to hear, but next time you have this problem ask your doctor about getting a prescription for chill pills because everything is going to be alright. 😛
