Hello, everyone. I am now a senior in college applying to med school this summer. From my research and understanding, I would be a better fit for DO schools. I really don't have a preference to one or the other. Let me know your thoughts and if you think I would have a good shot at DO or MD. Thanks!
21-year-old Biology Major at Eureka College
cGPA: 3.42
sGPA: 3.20
MCAT: Averaging 500-503 on practice full lengths.(will receive scores June 13th)
Experience: CNA & EMT license/ 1750 hours of direct patient contact, ~1000 as a CNA, ~750 as an ED Technician/ Many mission trips, non-medically related (Honduras and 10 other cities in the United States) was a leader on half of them/ tons of volunteer work (no possible way to count all the hours)/ traveled to India to shadow surgeons in the poorest state of India/ Shadowed pediatric anesthesiologist/ shadowed cardiothoracic PA.
Deans list and president's list my freshman year. Pretty much slacked off grades-wise my sophomore year and was way too busy with volunteer work and traveling the world to put time into studying. Sadly got a few C's which killed my GPA. Then my Junior year my GPA has gone back up. Haven't gotten awards yet, but assuming I'm on the dean's list again for this year.
Don't really know what else to tell ya. I think that's about it. So... good fit for DO or MD and what are my chances? Thanks again.
