I was recently invited to interview at Touro-CA, Touro-NY, and Western U-Lebanon. I have 3 DO acceptances so far including AZCOM, which I feel is a good fit for me, though I am still waiting to hear back from a couple MDs I prefer. Money is extremely tight, so I would probably have to charge travel expenses, but I can see why it would be good to keep an open mind and check out the schools anyway.

Specifically, I am interested in practicing in a big liberal city one day (like Seattle or Portland) and thought Western might be a good gateway to that kind of future because it’s in the Pacific Northwest. I also feel like NYC and California would be great places for rotations and planting seeds for residency, but I have concerns about Touro. What do you think I should do?

I’d take azcom seeing as neither touro offers anything and with COL they will be just as expensive. LA area docs I’ve talked to are familiar with azcom students (if any DOs). Azcom has rotations in the LA and Phoenix areas for bigger city vibes. AZCOM is expensive but good education. As for touro NY, ask @Goro

Doesn’t matter where you end up doing residency once you graduate residency you can move anywhere.

I have concerns about Touro-NY as well. Western-OR and Touro-CA are fine. AZCOM is fine (although broiling in the summer. "But it's a dry heat!" you say? So's an oven!)

With 3 accepts, you need to figure out if the remaining schools are really worth it...ie, if given an accept to them, would you go there? If not, cancel the interviews.
