I only applied to three schools. LECOM was the first to invite me to interview, giving me about 1 month's notice. In that time KCOM invited, interviewed, and accepted me. I'm almost positive I'll attend KCOM. I have my interview at LECOM scheduled for four days from now. But I'm considering cancelling. It is last minute, and I doubt they'll be able to schedule anyone else in, but since I don't really think I'll attend even if accepted I don't want to waste the time, or take another applicants acceptance opportunity. At the same time I think interviewing might be worthwhile. At least it'll give me something to compare KCOM to. At best I'll be swept away and want to attend LECOM. Any thought, SDN collective?

How far are you from Erie? Do you have a plane ticket?
I was accepted last year to LECOM-FL, where I was almost positive I wanted to attend, and decided not to attend scheduled interviews at DMU and NSU just because I didn't think it was worth the hassle.

To answer the question and clarify my original post, I live in PA. It is a six hour drive to Erie, so not terribly far but not close. I'd drive it, so no loss on plane or train tickets. I'd have to miss a class, and I already rearranged my work schedule to go interview. Money is an issue as well, even the relatively minor cost of gas and food, as well as a hotel (my wife and daughter would go with me).

I really did'nt like the place when I interviewed but thats just my opinion, however if staying in Pa is an issiue for you I suggest you go.

If you are from PA you will love the school. I just interviewed yesterday so can give you my take on the school. I did my undergrad near Penn State and it was very similar, but a bigger town with alot more to offer. The town has a pop of 100,000 very similar to my hometown about 30 minutes from NYC. There is a ton of stuff to do there, all the stores and restaurants you are used to. The people in the town love LECOM students and I am told they give you discounts everywhere in town. The school itself is not very big, but I was extremely impressed with how receptive they were. Everyone is very friendly, much much more so then when I interviewed at PCOM.

This is my first interview. LECOM is my first choice after visiting this past Aug. Do you have any advice for a first timer on interviews? thanks, stephen

Inhope, I left some advice on the LECOM acceptance thread.

On going to the interview. I would, I liked Erie, like the other student said, they were much more impressive than PCOM. PCOM had a girl come in for financial aid and hand us a brochure and told us the hours they were open and said good luck!?!, LECOM sat us all down at a round table and spent signifacant time talking about the financial aspects, where to get the money, how much, the limit, they even gave us a list of good apartments to say in.

If you are married, it may be another reason to check out erie, good stip joints, just kidding, The cost of living is very reasonable, I know this makes a difference to me.

However, I am by no means an ambassodor of LECOM, it works well for my wife and I, but it depends on what right for you. KCOM is a good school with a good reputation, I don't know about the cost of living. An apartment in Erie could cost as little as 450 month for something fairly nice, and everything is near the school. You could be on the other side of town and your still only 20 minutes away. This is not always the case in some of the bigger cities.

But I would go. Its worth the comparison. By the way hotels are only 40$ a night.

good luck jim

Thanks for the input Jim! I should be married by next year so the strip joints are out...smile! I'll check out the other post, and will just go. I was impressed during my first tour and hope I get in! good luck, stephen

I'd suggest going to the interview. I interviewed and was accepted at both LECOM and KCOM -- I was pretty close to choosing LECOM (I decided on MSUCOM when I was accepted). I love the Erie area, but it's just too far from home
