Should I just quit medical school now and get it over with?

So I've got a test coming up in a couple of weeks, and I haven't studied a lick for it. In order to make an A, I'd have to study like 16 hours a day every day for the next 2 weeks. I don't wanna....I want to quit.

I think I'm going to fail this test.

Should I just quit now and get the aches and pains over with? I only owe $110,000 in student loans.

Let me get this straight....you want to make an A or you quit?

....

That's right. Otherwise I could never be a dermatologist and be paid $400,000 a year to pop pimples. I could never do any other specialty...

Yes.

I think you should quit--seriously, do it. You obviously don't have the mental fortitude to dedicate the time towards learning the material for a basic test, much less taking a step exam or finishing a residency, so you should just quit.

Is that the answer you were looking for, or were you just trying to get everyone on here to feel really sorry for you?

At least you went out in a blaze of trolling glory

well... a 5+ year, 800 post account... that takes some guts right there if I do say so myself...

His lunacy inspired me to peruse his posting history. Despite the 5+ year membership, all 800 posts have come in the past 2 months

That either takes a lot of forethought, or he suddenly rediscovered this site after so many years.... a good illusion though

Basically, until I got into med school I spent very little time on these forums. I never thought I'd get in, (at least not U.S. allopathic) and so I made maybe 100 posts over 5 years. Reading these forums was actually pretty stressful for me, as there are loads of people posting who got 100% rejections with slightly higher GPAs and MCATs than mine. And I'm a white guy, so I figured that was all she wrote. I was going to go to St. George's University. However, SGU was slow in processing my application, and so I had a year to kill to wait to get in. I threw my app into the ring, and barely got in somewhere.

I was so happy that I made hundreds of posts here over the last couple months. But, after a while, I started noticing how people would flame me or make fun of me when I'd make a serious, well thought out post. So I took up trollng.

This troll is trying to make fun of all the people who are like "Med School is so hard and I'm going to fail" (aka "I'm a *******")

Once you are actually into medical school you might find that "holy crap I really don't want to study for this but I know I have to" feeling popping up in yourself. Ask yourself in two years if it's really so stupid.

As for your newfound passion for trolling, I give it a 5/10 (the 800+ posts part adds some credibility, mad props on that!). If you spend a couple of months working up another account, though, you might want to come up with something a little more clever!

Thanks. I need to set up about 5 or so "disposable accounts" that I can have age to maturity over time.

That way in a few years I can show up with a decade old account with 1000 posts, and troll to my heart's content.

Not if you get a nice IP ban to all of your accounts.

Hello everyone, curious, what is this "trolling" word mean?

An Internet troll, or simply "troll" in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.

Interesting, a few years back we used "flamer" and "flaming" to describe what you call "trolling", been quite some time since I used message boards, used to be big on editing VBB and UBB boards in php. Computer Science was my starting major, now Human Physiology for pre-med. I think I will become quite active on these boards 🙂 Thank you for the clarification of "trolling" btw 🙂

Generally 'flaming' refers to a legitamate, but stupid and inflamatory, argrument on the internet. For example between a pro-choice and a pro-life poster:

PC: 'Yeah, well I hope your mom gets raped. Twice. Maybe then you'll feel differently'

PL: 'That's exactly the sort of thing Hitler would say.

Trolling, on the other hand, generally refers to a poster who says controversial things things for the sole purpose of being inflamatory. They're not trying to get their opinion across, they're trying to bait other people into getting stupidly angry at them.

A troll's goal is to make you flame, at them and at each other.

I can't imagine having such a boring and worthless life that I'd feel the need to come on to SDN and make fun of people pursuing medicine...

Satire, people. No need to ban everyone.

I just noticed that every subsequent post the OP makes is under a new username b/c he keeps getting banned, poor guy. Trolls are funny 🙂

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen an explanation for someone's desire to troll. Interesting.
