Ok, I don't really plan to make threats, but I decided to call up all my schools to make sure they received all my apps (AADSAS sent 7/16). 4 of the schools tell me that the app is incomplete because they are waiting on my last letter of rec. I have to convince each one of them that they actually received the letter because the 2nd letter they received is A COMMITTEE LETTER THAT THEY JUST DIDN'T NOTICE. 😡The schools that came up with this issue were: NYU, Michigan, Washington, and Penn. Considering I don't have the greatest stats, all these schools have started to send invites, and I went through all the trouble of applying early, instead of them having a complete application today, should I call them up and get this fixed?

Is there anything I can do to get my application in the rotation spot where it should have been before this whole fiasco?

I would call them. It's not going to hurt things at this point. I would let them know that they do have it and make them look for it. Then I would say I really don't want this to hurt my chances of getting in due to my application being incomplete

It's your responsibility to call the schools and make sure your application is complete in the admissions office. You need them, they don't need you.

And yes, threats are the adult way of handling this situation.

Yeah... this pretty much sums it up.

If you threaten someone over the phone, they'll probably be less helpful and your small window just became even smaller. In the event you find yourself frustrated, stick your head out of a window, scream, and hope somebody doesn't call the cops. Then calmly get on the phone and calmly explain your situation -- be gracious for their help. You might feel entitled to premier service for paying an application fee, but they are still helping you. Keep that in mind.

hey when did u get the invite for asdoh?

Your lors are the least of your problems; but your stats are a different bird. You could threaten them with significant improvement in that area.

I am not trying to sound rude or mean... but

What exactly are you planning to threaten them with? they made a mistake and you paid for it, the end. I know its a s**** deal but in all honesty, you shoulda called them 1-2 weeks after the committee letter had arrived and made sure they knew what they were looking at.

The good news is, most schools are just starting the review process, I don't see this is hurting you THAT much.

something like "Invite me now.... or.... suffer my higher GPA next cycle" ?

Goodness....I said I was just kidding in the first line about the threats....I guess my title was too eye-catching to y'all...

What I was asking is, since all the schools have received my application, and now consider it complete, should I ask them to somehow move my application to where it would have been, if none of this mix up had occurred.

And if they didn't, I would take the lives of their first born children. Nothing crazy right? 😀

You must believe that applications are reviewed on a first come first served basis.

First of all I understand your concern, but calling with a threat is definitely not what I would recommend. Call them up and be professional. As a dentist you will be expected to hold yourself to a higher set of standards and making threats is not one of them. All of us applicants are under a large amount of stress, but we need to keep our cool. Goodluck.

could always threaten to set Doc Toothache loose on them. Dude makes little predents cry.

the first thing the OP said was that he/she was joking about the making threats part.
