I just had my request approved to change two F's that I got at a CC 8 years ago to two W's. This raises my cGPA from 3.28 to 3.41, and my sGPA from 3.18 to 3.40.

I only applied to one school this year (why is a discussion for another time), and I have an interview there on Nov 12. Should I go through AAMC to update my GPA to possibly increase my post interview chances of acceptance, or should I save it for next year if I have to reapply so that my GPA will be seen as an improvement from one cycle to the next?

No, not if you already got an interview. Out of curiosity, how did you get an interview with a 3.28/3.18? Are you a URM? No offense intended.

Getting a couple F's taken off your transcript isn't an upward trend. It comes off more as GPA manipulation rather than improvement. Don't update.

Getting these two F's taken off actually makes my upward trend slightly less impressive. It was more about them looking at my overall GPA post-interview.

I guess I got the interview because I had a 36 MCAT, GPA of 3.85 in my last four years, and I'm a vet (not the animal type).

We see GPA broken down by year and can see all the grades. We don't have blinders on to that singular total GPA, we understand that some people take college classes before they're ready and it doesn't go well. Removing the Fs won't really do anything, they can already see that you have a solid GPA in your last 4 years, a solid MCAT, and being a veteran is certainly a boost to stats that are already great. I wouldn't worry about it. Just focus on the interview, and I hope everything goes well!

I have a similar situation (and I actually have a justification to do it, veteran as well, got transferred mid semester, for some reason even though I was refunded I got F's instead of W's, and never knew it until recently.. I assume I was past the last withdraw date or something, thats what I get for not checking transcripts) but I am curious how you were able to convince them, so I can try to do the same. This will automatically bump my GPA from a 3.35 to a 3.55, not counting the ~18 credits I'll finish before applying.

The school had a committee for petitions requesting exceptions to school policy. I just did that, explaining that I decided to join the military midway through the quarter and it was too late to withdraw.

I looked around, and it seems you have to petition the professor at my former school. And since it was ... 2006 ish, I don't remember them. I guess I'll just contact advising or something. Thanks!
