This is a terrific update around October 1. That is early enough to move the needle at schools that haven't offered you an interview and it is certainly something that you could mention at an interview before that date as a verbal up-date to your file. (Usually an interviewer will prompt you to report anything that's happened since you submitted the secondary.)
