Should I mention that I am part of a scholarship program that requires me to volunteer a certain number of hours each semester?

I got this scholarship as a high schooler, which requires students to volunteer a certain amount of hours each semester. I feel like mentioning this on my application will make ADCOMS see me as a student who volunteers for the money. I have the passion for community service, and that’s how I got the scholarship in the first place. But I feel like it sounds more sincere if I don’t mention this. Should I not put this on my application? I’m very concerned I’ll be looked at in the wrong light.

I’d appreciate your suggestions.

U shouldnt put high schopl activities on app unless u continued them in college.

These activities are not from high school. I just meant to say that I got this scholarship while applying to colleges as a high school student. Sorry about my wording.

Sure. This scholarship is not going to make or break your app tho.

Have you only been meeting bare minimum hours of scholarship volunteering hours each semester? Do you have any other volunteering done in the summer where it wouldnt be part of the scholarship requirements? I think listing the scholarship is a net positive on your app, as it probably implies youve been volunteering your whole life, but to make it seem like its more than the money, you should have some hours on top of it/not during the scholarship periods (summers/winters)?

The nonclinical volunteering I did was not through the scholarship, but all the other volunteering I did while in college are through this scholarship program. I have about 600 total hours of volunteering so far.

I am honestly conflicted with this since I don’t want ADCOMS to think that I’m doing this for the money, but also I am proud of getting this service-based scholarship.

I’d appreciate more opinions on this one.

Its fine. On the app youll have to list scholarship and its requirements, and then on the activities youll have hours for each type you did so if they care enough theyll do the math. Id say youre golden and not to overthink it. Again, you were given the schl likely based on a lifelong history of commitment to service.

@gyngyn @Moko @LizzyM @Goro can add feedback as its prob the most useful!

I would not think that you're doing it for the money. It seems that you earned this scholarship with your prior commitments. This by itself is unlikely to change the overall assessment of your application. Just my thoughts
