So I need some advice on the situation I'm in right now. So it has been my dream to go to dental school and up until recently the right time just hasn't come along. But I just took the DAT last week and made a TS/AA/PAT of 19/18/18. About average nothing better really. But I have all my applications in to 4 different schools including LSU, NYU, UNLV, and Univ of Penn. I really only care about and would like to go to LSU but they have a average AA of 19.6. So I am much lower than that.

I emailed the dean of admissions today and asked him "if I would still have a chance if I retook the test DEC 15."

This is what he said:

"It will be pushing it! Since you have taken it before there is not a problem with having a complete AADSAS application by 12/15 and a complete LSU application by 1/15/09. The problem you might have is (1) getting selected to receive a supplemental application before 12/15 with an 18 academic average, and (2) if you receive a supplemental application before (or after) your retake, few places will probably remain in the class with our rolling admissions process. I'd still retake it as soon as you become eligible and shoot for a better score."

Here is the problem...I have a full time job working 50 hours a week, making really good money. But I feel like if I quit my job and studied for 2 months straight I could get a AA of 20 or better. BUT would I even still be considered?, and I would be without a job/money. But this is important to me! So should I just risk it all and go for it OR wait until next year? BTW: I hate what I am doing now and would really like to start dentistry...

If I were you I would study at nights and on weekends. I know that sounds horrible, but if you apply asap, that's what you have to do I guess.
