I am scheduled to take the test september 1st but so far I have only finished studying for gen chem and ochem (I finished watching chad's videos for these two subjects as well as destroyer). I have yet to study for bio, reading, PAT or math. I would really like to take the test before fall starts but do you think I have enough time? I also work 3 days a week around 5 hours each day.

thanks.

i think its way too early to make that decision. you still have time but keep working hard. if you feel like you're not prepared closer to test day, you can push it back. you're allowed to reschedule you test 2 days before without paying any extra charge.

if you haven't done so already, buy destroyer. go through the problems for those and and understand why each answer choice is wrong/right. also, youll want to get familiar with PAT soon. studying for the PAT is not a sprint. you'll probably be frustrated in the beginning but keep practicing and you'll definitely get better.

Hi Thanks a lot for your advice.

I have finished both destroyer ochem and gen chem and are now just doing 20 questions for each subject everyday for repetition. I am planning on buying the CDP for PAT but I hope it won't take me too long since my PAT is weak.

Also, I have AP cliff biology for bio but do you think that itself is enough? I took intro biochem&mol bio this past spring semester as well as neuroscience and cell bio and that's all I have taken in terms of bio (along with bio 1 and 2).

I haven't even started math or reading(my worst section).

thanks again

cliffs is definitely a good source. do destroyer bio too. it's gonna seem ridiculously random and hard but the purpose is to learn from it and understand why each answer choice is right or wrong. the explanations for the bio section are really helpful too. also use alan's notes (you can google it). i'm taking my test this week and i'm using alan's, cliffs, and destroyer for bio. hopefully it'll work for me but that combo has worked for many other people as well.

and definitely get CDP for PAT. good luck

You still have 2 months+ to prepare yourself. Trust me you'll never feel that you're "ready" for the test.
you already finished reviewing chem 2 months before your test date and I think you're fine. But if you want to postpone it I suggest doing it the week before because you you should know how you feel about hte materials by then. Good luck studying.

Are you applying for this cycle? If so, I would highly suggest not postponing it. If you receive a score that you are not happy with you have to wait 90 days before retaking the exam. 90 days after September 1st is December 1st and that is when the majority of people find out if they were accepted.

I highly do not recommend that you postpone your test. Trust me, you can get a lot done over the next 2 months you have! The more you postpone, you will start to forget some things...etc. Therefore, just study for bio, math, pat...etc until your DAT date....I'm sure you will be fine.

Also, keep in mind that you can always reschedule your DAT 24 hours before the actual DAT. So keep up with the studying and decide when the time comes!

Gook luck 🙂

I am actually applying next year because I will be graduating a semester late. I feel I still have so many things to study for besides chem and ochem and the fact that I only have 2 months plus having to work isn't making it any better

My suggestion would be to wait till a few days before your scheduled date. If you feel ready then go ahead and take it September 1st! If not, you still have time to re-take it. Good luck with all your studies 🙂
