Let me preface this by saying I will be transferring universities at the end of August, so no matter what job I get I will be quitting in August.
I am currently working at a fast food restaurant (I know, lame, been working there for 2 years). I think the job is suuuper boring and not challenging but I could just stick it out until the end of August. But, the job pays quite well.
I also have the option of working as a summer camp counselor for children with special needs. The position also ends in August, but pays significantly less.
My question is, while I am not doing it solely to mention on a med school application, will taking this summer camp position have any sort of positive impact on my application? Is there enough value to getting less pay for the experience that this position offers?

Yes. Medicine is a service-oriented profession. Helping children with special needs will be a positive on your prospective application. If money is not the issue, I would take do it over the FF job...

They do look at your non-clinic hours. Working with students with special needs would be looked favorably upon, plus it would give you more to talk about than the fast food restaurant job in your interviews!

Overall, it may help a little but ultimately it won't make or break your application. Might be an interesting talking point if you ever made it to the interviews but you gotta make it there first and GPA/MCAT rules on that note. It also comes down to if you need the money or not. If you got bills to pay then stay and work at the fast food joint. If this ever came up in conversation all you have to say is you needed money to pay bills. Done. End of story. No use helping others when you can barely help yourself.

Depends on your other experiences and how much time you have left before applying. If you already have plenty or are planning on pursuing a lot more, I'd go with the higher paying job if you need the money. A fast food job isn't totally useless for your app. It involves working with others, serving people, and often dealing with difficult customers in a fast paced environment. It also shows you can put up with working a tough but not-so-fun job.
