Hey guys I'm asking for advice for my brother who just took his DATs (he won't post his profile cause he's a lazy ass). He took his DATs a week ago and this is how he scored:

pa-22
bio-20
g chem and ochem-16
rc-18
qr-18

I'm not sure exactly what the averages are but would he need to re-take his dats? His overall gpa in school is about a 3.2 and he's done more than 300 hours of shadowing, combined with the fact that he participates/runs multiple clubs at his school. I feel as if his profile's pretty strong, but my opinion doesn't really count so if anyone could chime in on any area of weakness in his profile it'd be much appreciated, thanks!

Yes, he should definitely retake. His application is severely hurt academically due to his low GPA and low DAT. The first thing the admission committee will look at are his grades and DAT. Ask others on the forum, people get rejected immediatly for not meeting a minimal cutoff. Being that his GPA is low, he would need at least a 19 on each subject and preferably a 20 or 21. Just my opinion.

I would say, yes.

Your brother should consider re-taking the test. Getting 16 on two science sections will likely be a red flag to the admissions staff, especially considering his slightly below average GPA (which is not terribly bad, might I add 🙂).

Why do a lot of people refer to the DAT (Dental Admission Test) as "DATs" ? It's a single test.

I'm not just picking on you, but i see it on the forum all the time.

Why do a lot of people not answer OP's question and say something not relevant to the question whatsoever.

OP: retake necessary.

Darn right, people going on with irrelevant comments.

Oh, and yeah, a gross is a dozen dozen (12 x 12). :scared:

Thank you everyone, I really appreciate all of the advice.

Depending on the schools, some will not accept a score below 17.
