I'm supposed to take the MCAT on April 24th, but I don't know if Ill be ready in about two weeks. My highest score has been a 31. My practice scores in the past two months progressed as 31, 31, 29, 27. I feel like I'm doing worse! How is that possible? I really don't want to reschedule, but I don't know what I should do at this point. I feel like I am close, but this downward trend worries me. Should I try to reschedule for May 8th?

I would say give yourself one to two days break and go out and enjoy yourself then take one more test, if you do worse then postpone...and I dont think a week or two week postpone would make a diff, atleast postpone it to another month!

If your scores continue to decrease, it may be best for you to reschedule your test date. If you're taking a mixture of tests offered by Kaplan, Princeton, and the AAMC that could explain any inconsistency or decrease in your scores. Students tend to score higher on Kaplan exams, lower on Princeton Review and it depends on the AAMC test. I recommend sticking to one method to see consistent improvement, taking the tests in the order recommended by the test prep company.

Two or three weeks may not be enough time for you to see an increasing trend in your practice exam scores. If possible, give yourself more time. Don't forget to take a few days off before the actual exam to give yourself a break. Remember to breath and create a timeline based on your new test date. Take it one day at a time. Use your practice test scores to guide what you study each day. By consistently focusing on your weaknesses you should gradually see an increasing trend in your practice scores.

Thanks! I am going to take one more test today and see how I do. It's strange, but the last three tests were all AAMC so I don't know what's going on. If I do well (say around 34/35) on the one I take today do you think that is a decent assurance to not change my date?

I don't recommend basing your decision on one practice test score only. Can you take a few more tests before you decide? Some of the AAMC tests are harder than others. Good luck!

Can you tell us what are the actual composite (PS, VR, BS) of all the AAMC FLs you have taken up to this point?
