I have one prereq, Gen Chem II, that stands out from all the others because I got a D+. my science gpa is around 3.5, my cum gpa is around 3.0.
I don't have the best gpas, I know. I'm hoping for a great MCAT score (only got a 497 when I took it last summer :p )

Anyway, should I retake this course to show the admissions board that I understand the material? I know it won't pump up my GPA.

If I do retake it, it will delay my graduation by one semester, that's sort of the caveat. But I will have a gap year either way.

Thanks for any help!

I think you have to retake it. I don't think the schools will accept a D+ in a core prerequisite. I assume you are applying DO, so an A would totally replace the D+ and strengthen your GPAs.

I would advise retaking the course. Many schools require a grade of C or better in prereq courses.
