Should I retake bio.?

Hello there,

Last year I didn't do so well in my genetics biology course. I got a C and I know I should've studied a lot harder. My other science/math grades are running a B+ average (not so hot for pre-meds I know)...should I retake bio. this upcoming semester?

Your help would be much appreciated.

basically, it's up to you, but since AACOMAS takes the retake grade, it could definitely help you out.

I thought they average the two (or more) grades for the GPA 😕

AACOMAS takes the higher grade. AMCAS just takes all of your grades, regardless of re-take.

I am not going to tell you wether or not to retake bio...but I can tell you that I had a few Cs in biology classes on my transcript when I applied and nobody even brought it up at the interview. After getting the Cs, I simply continued with more difficult bio courses and made sure I got As or Bs in them. One or two Cs most likely will not keep you out of med school.

I would agree. Just do not make a habit of getting C's until after you have been accepted.

Um, NO. Don't retake a C class. You retake a D class.

Medical schools will still accept you with several C's (more than 1 or 2).

Just do well on the MCAT.

A B+ average is GOOD for your science GPA.

If you retake every C then you are
