Hi fellow SDNers~ I have read all those posts about "should I apply now or wait" and "should I retake in Aug/sept", but I am still unsure about my situation.
My May/2011 MCAT score is a very balanced but low one: 9/9/9. My practice scores were 27-30, so I guess I should've expected that. I had 1.5 months to study for it on top of work and school, in retrospect, that was not a good idea. I took MCAT once 2 years ago, without much studying and landed a PS 7/VB 7/BS 9. Should I retake it August 5/6th? I'm only working part time this summer, so I will have more time to study for this one. I have tons of ECs and research publication, but my oGPA is 3.5, so ideally I should be applying early. My AMCAS/AACOMAS and LORs are all ready to go, with 30+ MD and a few DO schools on my list, but I just need a decent/good MCAT score. 😡 I know Aug MCATs are considered late for this cycle, dilemma!
So I guess my options are: 1) apply now indicating my retake in early-Aug, work on the secondaries while waiting (in fact, I already started on a few), but my primary won't be complete till early September, or 2) wait for next cycle, with more time to study, but potentially make all my LOR writers angry. A couple of them may not even want to write me one next year because they wrote me a letter for a different program last year, so it'll be their 3rd time writing me LORs 😱. And I graduated from undergrad a couple years ago, so I'd rather not wait any longer if I can help it.
Though I am leaning more toward option #1, I would still like to hear other people's opinions. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks you guys!
