Hi everyone. I am looking to get into DO schools, preferrably in california - touro or western.

GPA - 3.0. after retaking the classes, i can raise it to 3.4 - 3.5.
MCAT - 505
HCE - im planning on doing CNA, EMT, or medical aide... what do you think is best?

The trouble is the mcat, but I was thinking of retaking my classes. I want to do them at a 4 year, and I can, but it would cost thousands of dollars.... i do have the money, but if it would be acceptable to take them at a calstate or cc, it would be so much cheaper. advice? thank you!

Not a lot of people understand our tier system.
The
UC
CSU
CCC
But I think clarifying which classes you are retaking might help folks to answer your question. 🙂

How did you do the first time around for prereqs? If you're taking them just for the sake of retaking to learn the information for the MCAT then go cc route. If you're retaking them in the hopes of GPA repair (if you didn't do well the first time around) as well as MCAT prep, go the next cheapest route outside of cc. Retaking prereq's at cc that you originally took and didn't do well in at university may be looked on with skepticism by admisisons regardless of your motivation to do so. That MCAT is actually competitive for DO, so unless you think you can do significantly better (+4-5 points) or the score is very unbalanced for sub-scores, stick with that score

I would suggest working as a scribe for HCE. I believe you will need additional training/classes to be a CNA and/or EMT. As a scribe, you will have a lot of 1 on 1 with physicians that will be a great experience. Just my $0.02!

Lol @ csu or 4 year remark. They're the same thing.

Any retakes for DO schools do them at a CC

Most of my pre-reg are at cc and I'm getting 6 iis with one acceptance so far.
Do things that save your money. Cause application process is costing a lot of $$$
