Have you taken the DAT yet?First, I advise you to get A's in your pre-requisites. If you retake dat now while you are trying to get A's on these courses you will hurt both your gpa and your dat score.
and yeah retake! If it's not gonna help you this year, it will help you next year
I don't think your dat is not good, it's very good ( congratulations and great work), but with that gpa and the fact you haven't finished the pre-requisites yet, a better Dat will always be in your favor.
By the way, have you done any shadowing and volunteering? These two factors are necessary as well.
For now, I would focus on getting those A's and update schools with any new grades you receive and any more shadowing/volunteering you are doing. That can make a big difference.
Best of luck!
Have you taken the DAT yet?
Also there's no guarantee his retake would be higher or necessarily better
Best of luck. Hopefully, you'll get in this cycle.I will finish the pre req but I feel that by the time I finish them it will be too late in the cycle and not make a big difference in my application,
And yes I do have volunteer and work experience with a strong personal statement
Thanks !Best of luck. Hopefully, you'll get in this cycle.
Hi every body, I took the exam on August 30 and received 20aa 21 Ts 18 (21 qr , 19 in reading, 21 orgo 21 bio 20 in chem )
I applied 2/3 weeks ago and I m starting to get worried, I feel that the average dat score now a days is so much higher, I think I need a (22+) to become competitive.
I m an unconventional applicant who has been out of school for 3 years, I majored in finance. I still need to complete physic 1 & 2 to and bio chem to satisfy my pre reqs,
I had a 3.3 /3.2 gpa respectively.
I know my gpa is low and I was just thinking maybe a higher dat score will improve my chances. What are your thoughts? Or would a retake be a waste a time ?
Thanks
if you get a higher score of course it is worth it. But you also have to consider your GPA. if your GPA drop and you don't have a significant improvement on DAT i don't think its worth it. it really depends on you, how you manage your time, what classes you are taking.... i hate studying for DAT while i'm in school cuz its just too hard to balance both (its doable tho)I studied when I was out of the school , I studied intensely for 3 months. I’ve come to realize if you want to become a dentist ; 400 is chump change in the whole dental school application process.
