I recently graduated with a B.S in Chemical Engineering and a 2.6 GPA. Clearly, my grades don't make me very competitive applicant. I really didn't consider optometry school until my fourth year and by then it was already too late to do anything to improve my grades Although I still have a few more pre-req classes to take, I doubt it's going to raise my GPA very much. I'm planning to study my butt off for the OAT to offset that but in addition to that, do you think I should re-take some of my pre-req classes to raise my GPA even more? Another question I have is if I re-take those courses at a different institution, will it still overwrite my initial grades? My biggest concern with that is cost of retaking those classes which is going to cost me over $350 per unit. So absolutely have to, I don't want to re-take any classes.
