I just recently took the DAT for the second time and my score was:

First attempt ---> Second attempt
PA 22, ---> 21
QR 17, ---> 21
RC 15, ---> 15
BG 17, ---> 19
GC 20, ---> 21
OC 14, ---> 19
TS 17, ---> 19
AA 17, ---> 19

I have a cGPA of 3.56 and sGPA of 3.33. I do have 4000+ hrs in the medical field and 300+ hrs in the dental field. Do I have a chance of getting in anywhere? Do I need to retake DAT for my application to even be considered? Please let me know if anybody had a similar experience and what the outcome was, thank you!

Your stats seem about average for most schools which hovers around a 19-20 and 3.55 GPA, excluding your science GPA. I'm not sure if you're applying this cycle because if you are a retake might be late in the game. Seems like you have good EC's so if I were you I'd submit my application but that's just me. Your DAT score isn't amazing, but it's around the average for dental schools.

What did you use to study the second time around and how hard did you study?

Thanks for the response, I am applying this cycle so we shall see.

I used Bootcamp and studied for 5 weeks. Average 8-10 hours a day, and the last week leading up to the exam I took a practice test every day. My practice tests were pretty accurate of the actual score I got, probably 1 point higher on the actual DAT in each category.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for sharing. In hindsight I would have purchased destroyer, I believe it's a superior product that bootcamp.

You have a chance of getting in but it's just going to be an uphill battle. I would apply this cycle and see how it goes.

If you don't get in, retake the DAT and prepare using better resources than Bootcamp. I haven't seen a single person do poorly using DATDestroyer and PATBooster so far.

I would call the schools and get their input on your scores. The 15 in reading is going to be frowned upon at a lot of schools. Congrats on the improvement on your 2nd DAT with the exception of reading, just curious you stated when taking timed test you scores were similiar to what you received on the actual DAT, if you were scoring so low on the reading why didn't you reschedule and focus on improving your reading skills?

Wishing you the best!
