I took the DAT in August and my AA was a 19, total sciences:20, organic: 19, PAT:18, chem: 22, and bio: 22, but I got a 14 on the quantitative reading, I ran out of time!! Should I retake it? I would have to wait till mid november

if i were you id submit for the cycle. you never know, you make get a few interviews. all of the other scores sound ok. just verify quantitative reading?

If you got a 14 on the QR section, you might still be okay as that is the least important section, so a low score in that section might be forgiven assuming the rest of your application looks good. If you got a 14 on the reading section, thats a different story - I would then say you need to retake the exam.

this is how the rest of my app looks like: I have a 3.16 from Cornell, not that it matters. I have shadowing experience for 30 hours with one oral surgeon and I was in a variety of clubs through out undergrad. I am scared that if I retake it, my science will go down and my math will stay the same. I really needed that 22 on Gchem bc I got a C in the course. whats my chance of getting into NYU or Tufts?? anyone with a similar story get in?

Edit from 2020 for all the young-ins reading and searching the web: I got into both NYU and Tufts, Tufts even gave a 15% scholarship off their tuition.

I personally think youre in pretty good shape as you have solid scores in every section except QR which is one of, if not the least significant section of the DAT.

thanks for the input. what i'm going to do is go ahead and apply this year. if i get in great, if i dont then im just going to retake over the summer because its too much to study for during the school year. working for a year wouldnt be so bad

Hi. Here is my advice, take it for what its worth.

Your GPA is low, with the applications close to 3.4-3.5 average, yours falls below that. Now you have solid DAT scores, especially your sciences, so good job on that.

I would continue doing what you have to, finish off the year, apply and see how it goes. Have a backup and yours seems to be working so thats cool.

I would also take classes that would help boost your GPA. Any elective, science based, whatever you are good at to bring that GPA up. As for the DAT, your chances of doing lower than your first time is high, as statistics have shown. That decision to retake is up to. Do more of other things, volunteering, research, EC, working, all that stuff to make your application as competitive as possible so that any other aspects that may appear weak are not as important any more. Hope you get my drift. Other than that, make sure your letters are good too. Take care
