my question is should i retake? i'm in the middle of the semester. i've been studying here and there but i can only do so much as my classes are kind of crazy this semester. that math section is pretty glaring. i just want to know what you guys think. i haven't gotten an offer for an interview yet. i applied in late july. secondary's went out in late august/early sept. a few schools put me on "continued review." does that mean that they want me to take the DAT again or what?

another question is if i retake and my scores go down, which set of scores do the schools look at? this is just so much to think about i could really use some good advice! THANKS GUYS!!!!

To answer your last question, most schools only look at your most current DAT scores. So if your scores go down, thats sucks for you. The sucky part about your scores are the what I'm assuming is the 17 AA, your 13 QR and your 17 PAT. Schools really focus on the major three, AA/TS/PAT and yours reads 17/18/17, which isnt great. You did well on the science sections and you were definitely consistent with those scores. Im not sure, your in a tough spot, part of me says definitely re-take but another part of me thinks you may get some late interviews, especially to state schools. Its really a gamble not to re-take in my opinion but I dont know what your expectations are. In my opinion, you can easily smoke those current scores and do wayyy better the 2nd time, have some faith!

I assume your AA ~ 17, which is not exactly competitive. QR may not be weighed significantly, but there's still a minimum cut off that schools want you to attain... so 13 is a bit too low.

Sorry to say buddy, you should definitely consider a re-take.

Wait, I'm confused... if you have 18's in all 3 science sections... is it possible to get a TS = 17? I know it's the total calculated from 100 questions, but still that doesn't come out to 17.

You did very well on the reading. For next time, you won't have to worry too much about that section. So that's one section knocked out.

Since you are busy with classes this semester, you can devote your upcoming winter break to DAT. Practice and retake it near the end of December or start of January. If you devote the time and effort, you will increase your scores and possibly have a chance for post-December interviews.
