hey guys!

so i took the gre today....BIG disappointment! I was scoring fairly well on the ETS Powerprep software, usually in the 1200 range
But on the actual GRE I got a 490V 590Q (1080) BIG TIME BUMMER!!! I also have a low gpa (2.6), so I was kinda aiming high on the gre to make up for it. I have an extensive work experience (6 years pharmacy technician, volunteer, OC Health Care Agency internship, etc. and really good letters of rec) But, my question is, should I retake the GRE? I'm leaning towards yes, but I REALLY don't want to...Does anyone recommend any GRE classes?

thanks!!!

kaplan boosted my verbal up 80 points and my quant up 80

I would try again.

I would definitely try again. Even for mid level schools the combination of your GPA and GRE isn't the most competitive.

I don't know if other schools do this but my school offers a 15 credit public health certificate program. You could start there to prove yourself and then apply for the MPH. In my school all of the certificate classes are required for the MPH also so you're not wasting money.

I don't blame you for not wanting to take it again. I still have flashbacks! I took Kaplan online, and my actual score was 200 higher than my diagnostic (no studying at all prior to that), not sure if that is an impressive improvement or worth the money spent so I don't know if I would recommend it or not.
