I know there are a lot of posts like this on here and I have read many of them, but I can't decide what I should do in my situation. I took the OAT in October and I can't decide if I should retake it. SUNY is my top choice school and I have read that they don't like any scores under 320. Anyone know if this is true? Two of my scores fall right under this point:

QR 330 80%
RC 310 67.3%
BIO 360 88.4%
GC 340 82.8%
OC 310 62.5%
PHY 320 70.5%

TS 340 83.1%
AA 330 81.5%

I think I did OK overall, but do you think my low RC and Organic Chem scores will prevent me from being competitive with SUNY. I was really surprised by my low RC score because I had scored much higher on all of my practice tests (opted and kaplan). My overall GPA is 3.59 and science GPA is 3.25. Do you think it would be beneficial to retake at this point, especially since my apps are being processed by OptomCAS and will hopefully be sent out soon. I would really appreciate any advice!!

SUNY won't like those scores, but they are good enough for a lot of schools, so no, I really don't think it's smart to take it again.

I had a score under 320 and was accepted to SUNY the day of my interview.
Bio 400, Physics 400, G-chem 390, O-chem 350, QR 360, RC 280. Total Sci 400. Overall 360. overall gpa 3.75
as you can see, my reading comprehension score is extremely lacking. SUNY still gave me an interview and i was accepted the same day. However, my reading comprehension is the reason I won't be getting an interview at SCCO. i was thinking about re-taking the oat because of my reading comprehension but luckily i still go interviews. however i did apply at the end of september.
your scores aren't bad. you should be fine. i didn't want to invest more time and money to improve my reading comp score by 20 points. it didn't seem worth it to me.

Clearly your situation is different than the original poster's.

oh yeah. well i just meant to say that i had never heard SUNY frowning upon scores that were less than 320. my reading comprehension score is well below 320 and they gave me a chance for an interview. the op asked if it was true that they didn't like scores below 320. i dont know the sure answer but i was just posting to show that i did have a score well below 320 and was still accepted. i was just at SUNY last week. how has your experience been so far if you don't mind me asking? or if you could PM me. Thanks. sorry if my post was irrelavent.

SUNY weighs the OAT heavily and there have been several instances where they ask applicants to retake their exams. Usually they won't ask for a retake if it is only one section that is too low. They don't employ the "cut off" scores like SCCO does, where they won't even consider applicants unless certain scores are above their pre-determined minimum. In general, Dr. Johnston often tells applicants who have yet to take their OATs, or who need to retake it, that they should get at least 320.
