Should I retake?

Hi everyone,

I recently took the DAT and my scores were:

22 Bio
24 Gchem
26 Ochem
21 PAT
16 Reading
19 QR
24 TS
21 AA

Obviously everything is fine except for my reading score which is very low. I'm looking to get into a California school. Do you think I should retake the exam?

that is a red flag.. but your TS is fantastic. I heard some schools have a cut-off at 16 or 17.
Your TS is really high to retake them and I hope schools would overlook that low RC score

i feel like your situation is unique. send an email or call the specific california schools you are interested in and see what they have to say. some might tell you to re-take and some might say with the other scores being high you are fine. it seems like getting the answer straight from them will help you decide to retake or not. good luck

I wouldnt. Some schools are going to cringe hard at that RC but someone will accept you with that accompanying GPA.

I agree Cacajuate! That 3.7 GPA and 24TS will get the attention of dental schools. It is not below any cutoff for most schools.
