Should I Retake?

Hey there guys! I am an IS Texas pre-med and wanted some advice on retaking MCAT.
I got my score back a week or so ago and got a 506. I want to score above 510 at least, so am planning for a retake. I already took it in 2013 and got a 28.
I also have 3.58 cum GPA and 3.54 sGPA. I have two publications, a couple submitted, some papers in the works. A ton of EC's and shadowing hours (Anesthesiology/Pain med, Internal Med, Heme/Onc, Family Med/ and have a Ob/Gyn and Ped doctor planned in next two months). I do research in a medical school and have strong letters: one letter from PI on admissions committee, one letter from professor, and one Extracurricular letter. I also have done humanitarian work, volunteering for Burns center in Pakistan and helped open a clinic in Karachi. I worked as a scribe and currently am a research assistant at UT Houston Med School. I have wrote my personal statement multiple times, still working it to perfection, and writing other essays and plan to submit by first week of May.

It makes no sense to rush into another MCAT around the 70th%.
Take all the time you need to make a substantive improvement. TX schools seem more tolerant multiple scores.
Your problem is the high regard TX schools seem to have for gpa.
As long as you apply to DO schools, you should be fine this cycle.

THANKS! I was going to do TMDSAS, which would send to all schools. Also, I was considering OOS as well.

Thanks, I was hoping to get a higher MCAT in January to offset my GPA but still don't know whether I should retake or not. I still want an early application and don't know how long it will take to get my goal score (May, June..).

Take all the time you need. Delaying a year for a stronger MD application is your call. You are already a good candidate for a DO application. For TX OOS I can only recommend DO with your situation.

Do you think I can still apply May this year and update application with "fingers crossed" higher MCAT? I really don't want to delay starting as I am 23 now and will be 24 if I matriculate in 2017. Also, what about Morehouse, Rosalind Franklin, Meharry, which are low tier OOS schools?
