I'm second year undergrad and studying for organic chem next quarter.. I was considering selling my chem textbooks (atkins) and was wondering if the textbook will be helpful for future MCAT studying as reference. Should I sell it instead?

my personal experience is that once i had my kaplan and EK books I NEVER touched school textbooks...

Hi
Do not sell them !
You will need them in between to clear some concepts .Test preparation books do not give details of any topic.May be you need more clarification with some topic and at that time these books can help you.

above poster is right; but if you're in need of money, you can sell the books and simply use the textbooks in your school library to go over certain topics.

I used my texts extensively, but I didn't use review books much. If you can get decent money for them sell them, and get old editions later or use a library. They really aren't necessary (though I'd keep the biology book).

I'm currently doing a mass content review and have referenced my textbooks over a dozen times in the last hour. With that said, don't get bogged down in details--clear up confusion and then move on. Use your books to provide context for certain topics and not as your primary study source. Especially with EK biology, there's not a whole lot of context for many of the topics so it helps to have your textbooks on hand to refer to.

I personally would sell them because to me the internet is the best textbook in the case of any confusion from the kaplan or pr books

DO NOT sell them. You will definitely need them quite often.

sell them. you can look up everything on the internet. and if you have friends, which i hope you do, you can ask them. even the library should have current textbooks available as well.

I wouldn't sell them.

But then again, I've never sold any of my undergrad texts. I still have my Java programming book from 1st year, my novels from english class, and even first year chem. I've built up quite a good library in my house.
