Medical Should I send post-interview 'thank you' e-mail?

Hey All,

I read an "interview tips" article that said you should send a thank you follow-up after interview. Does this apply right now, when things are virtual and everyone's inbox is flooded? It feels a little over-the-top to me, but maybe others who have been through this before (on either side of the interview) can give me their opinion on this. Thanks!

I think it’s a good gesture. I did it for my residency interviews and it was appreciated.

That being said, the only medical schools where I was accepted are ones where I did not send thank you e-mails, so realize that you are unlikely to gain anything from sending them.
