Should I start prepare for DAT before shadowing any Dentist.

I am a 2nd year student and pretty much decided that I am going to pursuing dentistry. I want to write DAT as early as possible (perferly sometimes next year) so I can sumbit my applications to US schools ASAP after completing 3rd year undergrad. My GPA is 78% atm and it will drop couple % after this year. Too bad that Canadian dental schools look at GPA too much. I have been spending much of my time doing community service.

I am pretty sure that I want to pursue dentisty after looking into different careers. But I havn't really shadowed any dentist yet. I visited my dentists often and chatted with him. That's pretty much it. So, do you guys recommend me to at least shadow my dentist for a while before starting to prepare for DAT?

i'm a second year too, although it wont matter of you do the DAT study first, as you should shadow a dentist every year.

I would make sure you want to be a dentist before you invest yourself in studying for the DAT.

Do some shadowing first to make sure you want to do it, take the DAT, then shadow some more.
