Last semester, I spent so much time in the lab doing research. As a result, my grades dropped a little because research took too much time. Should I stop doing research next semester and focus on getting all A's? I also get a letter grade from research. I received A from 4 credit hours research last semester. Would research help me in the long run? I am pretty close to my research professor who will write me a LOR. What do you guys think? Should I continue doing research even though my grades suffer a little? FYI, I received 3.78 last semester, and I am pretty confident that I could have gotten 4.0 if I had more time to study.

Thank you!

Have you considered talking over your concerns with your PI? When I needed to reduce my involvement for a few months to take the DAT and work, mine was more than accommodating.

Research is good, and it helps you standout from other applicants; however, grades are most important. You don't necessarily have to completely stop doing research, but may just dedicate more time to studying and less time to research. I'm sure you'll find a balance that works well for you.
