Should I submit a generic positive letter or leave it out?

I am required to have 2 individual LORs for TX schools and am allowed 1 optional letter, since I have no committee at my school. I waived my right to see all of them. I have 2 very good LORs that have been sent in, one from a physician and one from a professor. My volunteer coordinator also wrote me a LOR and showed it to me out of her own volition, so that I could give her feedback. She is not familiar with writing LORs and although I gave her a detailed set of guidelines, she was not able to write a really good LOR. The LOR said good things about me, but it is short (3/4 a page). She used very little evidence to back up her positive claims about me. Should I leave out the LOR out or submit as is? Another option would be to give her feedback on the LOR, so she can revise it to make it less generic. In this case, the LOR might not be submitted for another week. I planned on using it as my optional, so I don't know if it would hold up the verification process.

Leave it out. Its not worth your time or hers if you are only applying TMDSAS and already have two letters.

I doubt that a generic LOR can hurt you. Contrary to SDN's skewed beliefs, the majority of matriculant LORs are most likely generic.

While I agree with this, why would you want to include a week one among two strong ones when only two are required. Also keep in mind that most TMDSAS applicants only submit two letters so nothing will look out of the norm to them.

I think most actually submit a committee packet (not sure though). Usually, the comittee packet usually has 2-4 letters.

Yeah, this is probably right, but of those that submit individual LORs its only 2 if you look through the older TMDSAS threads and school specific threads.

I think I should be alright if I submit two strong ones. It's a lot of trouble to have to hold someone's hand just to get another good LOR. Thanks for the advice 😀
