Should I take MCCEE, as Plan B?

So I'm Preparing for the Step 2 CK exam, to take it late May, and hoping to match in General Surgery in the US soon.

Since I'm already preparing for this Exam, would it be wise to start with the Registration process for the Canadian Exam as well? Will It help me for, at least, Fellowship, if not Residency? If so, Will time allow me to sit for the MCCEE exam late May as well?, taking the into consideration the Document Certification process?
