I am going into my last semester of college and am allowed to underload. I am taking the last two classes for my major, and I was planning on using all my extra time doing research and studying for the DAT, which I am taking on April 2nd (I will have about 10 weeks to study).

Given that info, I'm still debating taking microbiology. Some schools require it, and if I did take it, there are realistically about 2 or maybe 3 more schools that I would end up applying to. That being said, it is a difficult class at my university and a big time commitment.

Would I be better off using that time to study for the DAT, or would my time better be spent taking this extra class?

Thanks!

How many schools are you applying to? If you already have 10+, I wouldn't worry about adding those 2-3 schools. If you're applying to 5 or less, then maybe it's something you should consider. Also, look into those programs that require micro, are they actual schools you would want to attend?

I haven't decided on the exact schools i'm going to apply to yet as my DAT scores will be a big factor. I'm hoping for a 22 or 23 but expecting a 20 or 21. Given that, theres probably around 10-15 I've been looking at and will probably apply to. The other ones if I took micro would just be OOS friendly schools that fit my statistics (as well as colorado. I don't know anything about their dental school, I just love the state for the nature and snowboarding haha)

Yeah, there are other important factors like GPA, ECs and LORs that would help you determine what schools to apply to. If you are decent in all of those above, I don't see why you would need to take micro (other than learning it before DS). I haven't taken micro yet, and I'm looking to just learn it during school lol
