i am trying to take the OChem II for summer course at university (not CC)
Its my first time taking OChem II (not retaking). Im just taking this b/c I want to start on biochem next semester.
Will it count against me when I apply?

I don't think it will be brutal. O chem 1 is harder than O chem II. If you cut down your priorities this summer it shouldn't be a big deal. Plus I think pharmacy schools will look highly upon it. It shows you can handle thick material in a short amount of time. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Actually some pharmacy schools prefer courses taken over the school year as opposed to over the summer but I don't think it's going to count against you if you do so.

It could be considered negative.

For example:

Only courses designed for science majors are accepted. Science courses (chemistry, biology, physics) designed for non-science majors are not acceptable. It is highly recommended that math and science courses be completed during the regular academic year and not during a summer term.

Why?

Perhaps the standards for a summer course are lower than usual for two major reasons. Summer terms are usually open to anyone and everyone without requiring a selective admissions process. Second, professors can be more lenient and/or exclude the more difficult material because they know the schedule is more compact.

If you have a list of schools you're interested in applying to, contact them directly and ask if they'd look dis-favorably on OChem during the summer. If not, then all the power to you.
