Hi all,

I divided the OC, GC, Bio of DAT destroyer into 30, 30, 40 questions, respectively, and that's how I use the destroyer.

But I'm wondering if I should be able to do the questions timed. I've managed to get maybe 8-10 wrong in each section which I'm happy with considering this is my first run through the destroyer, and my first diagnostic test was natural science avg like 14. When I time myself, however, I can't finish. Did people just go through the destroyer without timing? Or did people treat the destroyer like an actual test and timed themselves?

...because I'd be screwed if I'm supposed to do destroyer questions under time constraints.

Thanks.

Questions on DAT destroyer is more thought provoking and more time consuming then on the actual DAT's. I would say there will be simplified questions of those on the DAT's or a handful of those problems on there. It's best to understand what's going on in each question.

agreewith previous post. Know destroyer cold. do not time yourself. Do it like 2-3 times and u will get a gr8 ochem score

I disagree, defintly time yourself but use the right strategy!

I did exactly what you did while studying the destroyer and i also timed myself 30 minutes for each section.

Here is my strategy:

Go through a section timed for 30 minutes, do the best you can within that time limit. After the time limit is up go through the questions again in depth w/o timing, maybe you might answer a question differently since your not time-constrained. After doing that check your answers. Check the ones you got wrong thoroughly.

The point of this is that after awhile, you'll be able to see some trends for types questions that you get wrong when timed but correct when not timed.

hope this helps 🙂

p.s. this strategy def prepared me for the sciences i got a bio/chem/ochem of 23/21/21 and i started with a diagnostic of 16/15/14

actually, for bio and ochem i breeze right through it. i can't really do gc in 30mins. but thanks everyone, i'll keep at it.

if thats the case the adjust the time limits to what your aiming for in each section. Chem took me the longest, then it was ochem, bio section i could finish in less than 20 minutes.

The destroyer really should make you understand the topics. You dont have to run through it. When I went through the whole book I was underlining terms and just tried to understand each question.
