I'm currently at a community college and have taken quite a lot of courses already. I'm planning on transferring to a 4 year University in the spring, to major in Biology. I was wondering if I should transfer some non-scientific credits from the courses I've taken already to the 4 year University. Only the credits transfer, not the grades so it wouldn't contribute to my GPA at all (which is unfortunate, because I got all A's). Of course if I wasn't planning on going to dental school and GPA doesn't matter, then it'd be a no-brainer and I'd just transfer the credits to help me graduate faster/cheaper. However, as GPA does matter.. should I just retake those non-scientific courses (History, Music, etc) at the 4 year University to help boost my overall GPA?

Even though those community courses do not affect your University GPA, when you apply through AADSAS they will be factored into the final cumulative GPA. Therefore it would be wise to transfer them over anyways so you do not need to retake. Keep in mind all college courses needs to be factored and their grades will be counted into the GPA that dental schools will see. Good luck to you.

Thank you for this information. I had no idea at all! You just possibly saved me a lot of time.
