General Should I use "Him/Her" or "They/Their" in my application essays?

Hello!

I'm wondering if it's better to use him/her or their in secondary applications.

Him/her hints at a gender binary and can be exclusive, but I'm also worried that their may be taken as grammatically incorrect.

Thoughts? 🙂

They/their/theirs has always been grammatically correct.
Choose what is most comfortable for you.

Use your pronouns that you prefer. Unfortunately we cannot control what other people think regarding use of pronouns.
