Should I use my left hand for the mouse?

wow...i have so many jokes running through my head I can't figure out which one to use.
:boom:

lol. anyways...Well, if you're not naturally left handed, don't you think using your left hand for the mouse defeats the whole purpose of the issue?? I'm assuming the issue here is time. I think you'd save yourself time switching from your pencil to the mouse, rather than struggle with your left hand to click on the an answer choice IMO.

I personally thought that was the silliest "CBT only trick" that kaplan recommended. I think it's totally a waste...I mean it doesn't take more than fraction of a second to put your pencil down and grab the mouse, and you're probably leaps and bounds more accurate with your right hand anyway. 😛

Quite true. It has no real advantage. Its not like you will be writing and clicking nonstop through the test.

maybe they are also trying to make sure you dont use your left hand for the right hand rule, this way with your left hand on the mouse you cant go wrong.

If I used my left hand for mouse control I'd spend half the test just trying to get the cursor to go where I wanted it to. Fine motor skills and my left hand are seemingly at odds with one another. You've spent years using a mouse with your right (I assume), and this is probably not the time to change.

This is why MCAT courses can be bad... they get bogged down in "strategy" too much.

Spending more than 4-5% of your time on strategy is a waste.

I would ask for a refund...that is just the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

"You should answer the questions with your eyes closed, it will give you more time on the test and a better chance of guessing"

I saw this suggestion too and i called bull. I took most of my practice tests with a touchpad and I didn't feel crippled at all on the real thing when i took it with my dominant (right) hand.

i've taken tons of practice tests so far and i think that it may be helpful to use ur left hand on the math section.. if you want possibly even the gen chem and PAT while you're doing the box counting.. but then again.. it is kinda silly for the reasons everyone else mentioned and also this.. .. i just went out and bought a dry erase board to simulate the test and since you can hold the board in front of you (unlike floppy paper) and still write comfortably, it is even more silly to use the left hand method because the mouse being on the right side of the keyboard is no longer in the way of anything.. what does everyone else think think?

It doesn't take enough time to switch between pencil and mouse to warrant using the mouse with your non-dominant hand.

I use my right hand for the mouse and simultaneously jot stuff down with my left, however I am a Lefty who has had their entire life to adapt to the right-hand computer setup and this is second-nature to me. I couldn't really imagine trying to some random mouse/hand configuration on a major test day.

One extra thing to throw you off your game and really, how many extra seconds/points/whatever is that strategy going to yield? <.0000000001

yes, if you use your left hand with the mouse, you can do scratch work with ur right hand

Those were the wisdom of Albert Lee from Kaplan during a visit to our school 4 years ago.

But when I actually took the kaplan course, no one recommended left hand

How about using the time you would need to train yourself to do this nonsense to study instead? Just a thought...
