i thought i was going to just go to grad school and then just changed my mind back to MD/PhD. i'm planning on submitting AMCAS next week.
but i wanted to know if i should wait until next year. right now i'm taking a semester off doing research and was planning on going back school in the spring and then graduate. if i waited a year i could stay where i am for as long as next spring, and then go back to school and graduate. is the extra time i would have in my lab worth waiting another year, or should i just apply now in case i do get in somewhere?

thanks much

Just one thing to consider is where you want to go. Look carefully at the school's websites and their MSTP / MD-PhD deadline dates. Often this is months or weeks sooner than their deadlines for just an MD. For example, I was caught off guard when I realized Cornell's deadline for MSTP secondary applications was 10/16 -- the same (effective) date as their primary application due date as provided by AMCAS
