GPA 3.83, AAMC FL#1 508, AAMC FL #2 509.
MCAT date 8/3, score back 9/4. I read posts on here generally saying that completion of secondaries towards the end of Sep is too late. Goal is to get into any US MD school.
Looking for suggestions...

Not impossible but also since your MCAT is on the borderline of being competitive for MD, maybe best to wait a year when you’re fully ready and can be complete in terms of applications by August. Sept seems late honestly.

Depends on how much time you have spent preparing for the MCAT. If you feel you can raise your score by 5-6 points by more and better preparation, and you have the time to do it, definitely wait out this cycle.

If not, give it ago, but choose schools wisely, and include DO schools on your list.

I do want to get a 515-516. But looks like it might be better if I register for the exam when I'm ready. At this point I have not scored higher than 509 with two AAMCs left. I don't feel solid on content yet.

I waited an additional cycle to get the MCAT where I wanted it. Happy I did, but it was tough to make the decision at the time.

Thank you for your reply. Could I ask you a couple more questions? Did you manage to get accepted at the school you liked? For the gap year, what would you recommend working wise to make the application look better?

Besides your app being complete so late, you said yourself that MCAT content is not solid. Don't take the MCAT until you're solid on content and had enough time to master the application of said content in timed exam format. No need to rush. Skip this cycle, kill the MCAT, improve your ECs, and be a great applicant next cycle. You'll be hapy you did.
