Should I wait to apply?

So here is my situation..I'm about to be a senior and I had already started filling out my application, got my lor, haven't gotten transcripts yet, supposed to take the mcat this august but I'm having some second thoughts about all of this. I'm starting to get this panicky feeling that I'm not cut out for med school and if I get in this year somewhere I feel like I might be wasting an opportunity if I don't take it, but I don't want to be unhappy later on and wish I had waited.
Is there anyone here that went through the same position? Should I just send in an application and if I get in somewhere defer? By the way..does deferring mean you HAVE to go there, like a contract? or should I just wait till next year until I'm more certain about this commitment?

It's better to take the MCAT in the spring anyway, so why not spend the extra time studying so you can do your best & figuring out if this is what you really want. Applying to med school is as tiring and time consuming as being in med school.

On the other hand, even if you get in, you'll have a year before you start. That sounds like enough time to figure out if it's what you really want.

So worry less, contemplate more.
