Let's say I know for sure my GPA will go up after this semester (Fall 2011) so for institutions that are due on Jan of 2012 or later, should I wait, then submit after I get my grades?

The reason why I am contemplating is because my GPA is 2.98 right now and after this semester, it'll go up to 3.0 (hopefully). What are your inputs?

I would go ahead and esubmit because you will be given the opportunity to send in your updated transcripts with your fall semester grades. The only reason I would go ahead with it is because some schools may say that they will take applications up until a cetain date but they may fill up before then, I think, if I have understood correctly. I hope this helps out a little bit. I am new at all of this too! But I think that the earlier you esubmit the better.

For applications that are due Jan 2012 or later, the biggest things to consider are if the schools have rolling admissions and or a GPA cut-off number.

Schools with rolling admissions admit and reject student as the applications come in, so they could conceivably fill up their class well before the application due date.

From my understanding, schools with a GPA cut-off will not even look at apps that fall below a certain number (usually a 3.0), even if everything else is stellar.

So if you're looking at schools that don't have rolling admissions and don't have a GPA minimum, go ahead and submit whenever, and earlier may be better than later. However, if a school doesn't have rolling admissions but does have a GPA minimum, wait until fall grades are in, when your GPA will (hopefully) allow you to stay in the running.

Good luck!
