This semester I am taking 15 units- organic chemistry 2, physiology, and two general elective courses. One of the elective courses is kinesiology which I chose because I was thinking about going into the health concentration major at my school. It really doesn't interest me at all and I am on the edge of getting a B in the course. This would be my first, but since I am not going with this major, should I withdraw as I really don't need the course anyway, or should I take the B?

This courseload is manageable, but I really have no interest in the course, and I am not sure if pharmacy schools would perceive this as a fail or something. I have no other Ws on my record...

Don't drop it. Adcoms like seeing students succeed, especially while they're enrolled in more than 12 credit hrs. It'd look better on your transcripts if you completed the course. Besides, the semester is almost over and it be a waste of $ if you dropped it!

I tend to agree. Besides, IIRC, you need some number of elective credits for most pharmacy schools anyway. See what you can do to get yourself back on the A-side of things, if you can. 1 B is far from breaking you.

You should not drop the course just because you're getting a B. One B will not hurt you. Stick with it and see if you could raise your grade on final exam.

One B will not hurt you, but neither will one W. If you could end up with a C, consider dropping. If this class could bring your other grades down, considering dropping. Anything preventing you from holding that A in organic II needs to dealt with.

It's not really preventing me from doing well in my other courses. It does take some time away from them, but I am focusing more on my science courses anyway. I guess the fact that it is my first B and in a non-science elective course is really disappointing.

Is it better to have completed more units at a slightly lower GPA, then to take a W at this point considering it is late in the semester? I mean I have done the majority of the work already and taking a W would only show that I have completed 12 units, right?

B is for brilliance. Your right and your reasoning is sound. It'd be better to complete the course. Good luck with finals!

B is better than a W

How are you going to handle pharmacy school if you can't even handle 15 units?????

This isn't a question about whether or not I can handle it, this is about getting a B vs. an A. I have consistently managed 15 units for the last few semesters with all A's. I don't think everyone that makes it into pharm schools takes 15 units with this type of GPA. Yes they can take more units with a lower GPA, and that is still called managing. I could easily take more and manage above at least a 3.7, but why rush when I don't have to?
