Deferred probation freshman year for alochol, 17 year old at that time. School doesn't consider it as IA and deferred probation lasted for 3 months after which it was closed. Since it was not really probation should it be reported on amcas as IA even though school doesn't report it?

I am assuming if the school does not think it is a IA than it is not an IA. The handbook says "academic probation, academic standing warnings,
suspension, residence hall policy violations, and ethics policy violations." should be counted as IA. I am not sure if that falls under the description so try asking your school if it does.

Are you absolutely sure that it is not on your record?
Also, just an FYI- Institutional Action: Medical schools need to know if you were ever the recipient of any institutional action resulting from unacceptable academic performance or a conduct violation, even if such action did not interrupt your enrollment, require you to withdraw, or does not appear on your official transcripts due to institutional policy or personal petition.
If there is even a remote possibility that incident would be discovered, then you should discuss with advisors as to whether you should list it. It occurred as a freshman and if there were no others, it is unlikely to affect your app. Don't list it and it comes up, well, you are likely screwed.

parole seems like an IA at most schools
School mentioned it is not
It was deferred probation and happened in the first few months of college without any following incidents. The concern is even if this school doesn't see it as IA, will some other school sees it as. I am sure it is documented somewhere even though not disclosed on the transcript, and have to live with fear even after an acceptance if it comes up in background checks, etc. If revealed, would it hurt chances at reach schools and is it jeopardizing the application unnecessarily when the school told it doesn't consider it as IA?

Just check the box and explain it. This is a really a nothingburger; we were all young and stupid once.

If you aren't sure it is an IA, the AMCAS instructions say that you should check with school. School has told you it is not an IA. Case closed. It seems that your school has found a work around so that students get a free pass and no record. School was merciful. Go in peace.
