Should you address potential employers who are pharmacists as Mr./Ms. or Dr.?

This is just an issue I have come across when composing cover letters, which is further complicated by the fact that there are RPhs and PharmD's. Is it a bad thing if you mistakenly address someone as Dr.? What is the appropriate etiquette in this situation? Thank you!!!

I've been struggling with this for the past year. some pharmacy directors (pharmD) call themselves Dr. X, but in retail PharmDs call themself by first name and as pharmacist...So I don't know if I should call them Mr/Mrs or Drs...It's so frustrating and people get offended so easily too and don't wanna make anybody mad...😕🙄

I don't think you'd be wrong to call them Dr. if you know they're a PharmD or Mr/Ms if you know they're an RPh, especially with the first e-mail/contact.

If you're unsure with what degree, you're probably fine if you go ahead and say Dr. Most people would not be offended.

You can always ask what someone prefers to be called and/or pick up what others call him/her, if the relationship continues beyond one or two e-mails.

Attempt some research before being placed in an awkward position. Before writing a letter, check the pharmacist's credentials on the website / school site. If you are meeting coworkers in person, talk to your host (employee showing you around) to give you a run-down.

This is 21st centry, man.
Who still call others dr x or y?
Just call them by first names, or even easier, "bro." You can't never go wrong with the latter.
Loosen up man... Life ain't gonna crack if yo act so uptight.

I find out if they are a Pharm.D. or BSPharm; Pharm.D. is "Dr" on initial correspondence, BSPharm Ms or Mr.
