I matched into Anesthesia at a reputable Midwest program, and haven't heard anything from the University Hospital at ALL. No letter of congratulations or anything. I called them last week, and was told they were waiting to receive letters from the GME in the next two days before emailing the newly matched applicants. Today is Monday, and I still haven't received any sort of communication from them. I have heard applicants matched at other programs even receive phone calls from program directors congratulating them. Is this normal or am I right to be a little worried ?

Just as the Match is binding for you, it is for them. I wouldn't worry about losing your spot, if that's the concern.

If you're worried about the lack of courtesy on the part of the administrators of your future program, that's another story.

You shouldn't rush to any conclusions, other than to say you're locked into the program, and there's no hope of escape.

To say the department is discourteous is being generous. They downright don't care about you, their newly acquired slave.

I was wondering the same thing. My school sent an email that said we should be receiving contracts and that they should be returned within 30 days. My coordinator called me on match day, but I haven't received anything in the mail yet.

You may want to contact them and make sure they have the correct mailing address and email address for you. Plus, don't count out the fact that sometimes you are dealing with a central GME office, and they may be a llitttlle slow in getting things out! The worst that can happen is that you get called an overachiever! and the best is that you get an "oops, wrong address!"

Received congratulatory email along with my contract and license application attached. Also received a few housing option emails, and date of orientation. My coordinator has been super friendly and very quick to reply if there are questions.

For the rest of you, I'm sure its only a matter of time before it comes in. I wouldn't worry, as they have a deadline too and don't want to violate anything.

i remember this feeling weird at my program when I had to wait like 30 days for my contract...i think the bigger programs have more GME work to do (we have like 800 residents and fellows, I think) so thats usually the bottleneck.

i matched into a advanced with prelim. havent heard back from advanced. is this normal?

So I'm curious...did you ever hear from your program?? I would certainly hope so by now.

Yeah heard back from them only after I called the GME dept. Anesthesia is still giving me the run around. Oh well, atleast I have started on the licensure paperwork and all. They seem to be overwhelmed or disorganized or both. I matched into categorical btw.
