So as an admitted previously quiet stalker of SDN, I have decided to give myself a voice and jump in on the conversations! I would like to open a thread to give people an opportunity to give a shout out to the people who have been the greatest sources of support through this nightmare called vet school application time. Some of my sources are predictable while others were from unexpected people and would imagine that others have experienced the same. So, here go mine:

1. SDN - at times I have thought that my obsession with responses from vet schools (rapid email check every 2 minutes and ignoring all neighbors on my mad dash to the mailbox) has been a key indicator of some deep rooted psychological issue. It was so reassuring to find this website and to be comforted by knowing that I am in this with A LOT of people. A huge thank you to everyone that posts and may not realize the stressed out people they cause to chuckle miles away!

2. My sister - after horribly bombing my first interview, I have to give a shout out to my sister for causing me to laugh at myself to the point of tears for the stupid things I said. Although I love her suggestion that she show up with me to the next one and stand behind the panel with cue cards, what I took from it instead was to quit taking everything so seriously!!!

3. My Dogs - for the smooches and snuggles after every rejection letter even when I was late feeding them dinner because I was extremely busy pacing the floor screaming "What Do I Have To Do??????"

and finally.....

4. My Girlfriend - for having the uncanny ability to know when I need someone to feel sorry for me and when I need someone to tell me to get off my butt and get over my pity party!

Good Luck to everyone still waiting and Congrats to everyone already in!!!!

well, i assume most people will have the same shout outs haha but here is mine

Stolichnaya, Jose, Bacardi, Seagram's, Curacao: Thank you for hanging out with me, the lemon juice and the coke when I heard back from Penn and Cornell. We had fun, didn't we? 😍

Funny, I was going to thank the Captain, Jack, and Amaretto. Although I'm on Mudslides right now.

Woop woop!

Shout out to SDN!! You guys are the best. I've searched through thousands of posts and threads (when the search function worked) and was inspired by so many of you! I learned some of my weaknesses, strengths, competition (ColoGirl I'm looking at you! just my luck to have another Micro PhD candidate applying to all the schools I applied to with a 3.97 Undergrad GPA and a 4.0 Graduate GPA --who can compete with that?! 😉 ), and met some of my future colleagues (Turnbackhelly, Minnerbelle, DickVetPlease, RoyalRTF)!

Shout out to my mom, dad, brother, and sister who think I'm insane for doing vet school after a PhD but who support me and my desire to be in school forever anyways!

Shout out to my fiance who is putting his life on hold to support me while I go to vet school, who has encouraged me this whole way, and who is taking me to Lake Placid this weekend to celebrate the winding down of vet school application madness! 3 days of snowboarding here we come!

Shout out to my 5 bunnies. Who mostly just hate me until I feed them. But I love them all the same

oh this is fun! I don't have many yet because I've just started pre-reqs, but I'd definitely have to thank:

my parents: because I was afraid I couldn't switch career plans-- only child with a complex about making mom and dad proud-- and they said I could live at home the next 2 years and get everything done, such a load of stress gone.

sdn: for giving me the advice right when I needed it so I could start planning and taking classes right away.

my shelter: for making me realize that working with animals made me way happier that anything else.

my boyfriend: only because I've dated way less supportive people in the past and my boyfriend is more "you want to be a vet now? well that sounds great, go for it!"

aaaand of course delivery pizza, woodchuck cider, and awful TV.
