ugh.. what a perfect time to get mono. Im supposed to take the MCAT in a week and I just got mono today, so Im wondering whether it will be better to wait till the spring to take the exam or just suck it up and take it now. Im still only a sophomore, so its not like im pressed for time to take it. Ive prepared fairly well and feel if I take it (if I wasnt sick) I could get a 29-30. What would y'all suggest?

Hmm... Take it if you think you can. Least you'll have a score under your belt, and retakes arnt the end of the world.

I took the MCAT in January with a fever of 103+, and I did six points lower than any AAMC practice tests. At the time I thought I did fine on the test (~30 verses my average in the mid-30s), but I did not. In retrospect, I should not have taken the test then. During the times I took tests with the flu during college, I always did a letter grade or two lower than I should have due to really stupid mistakes. This is probably what screwed me up on test day. Unfortunately I did not have time to consider this when I got sick at 1AM - 7 hours before the test.

Can you reschedule it for September? You need to seriously think if you will be well during the time of the test. If you will not and you know it will greally effect your testing ability (e.g. you do worse on college tests when your sick, like me), I would postpone it until you are definately well.

dont take the test...u prolly wont do nearly as well as u should liek the previous poster said...i ended up takign the test in may and later foudn out i had gotten an ulcer from getting stressed out studying for hte mcat so this affected me while i was taking the test....basically i ended up doing really bad compared to wat i was expecting and since ur a soph u have plenty of time to do it next year...just worry about getting healhtier for now....good luck tho wiht watever u choose

Wait if you can. You're a sophomore - you can always take it early next year. It's not worth it to take the MCAT just to get a bad score. However, if you can't get a refund at all, I would say take it, and void your score if you feel you did poorly.

-no i cant reschedule for september, im taking off for france in two weeks.

-im leaning towards not taking it because i feel like death, and dont want to be "that guy" that is constantly coughing during the test.
