My boss asked me to stay on with super flexible scheduling where I pretty much tackle projects on my own time while I'm in med school. Pay is 20/hr.

The curriculum at my school is currently being "revamped" to be more "board relevant" so I'm not sure what that entails in terms of time commitment towards mandatory activities but one thing I know for sure is that it's P/F.

Is it worth it for 20/hr? How much would you want to get paid to make it worth your while?

Depends if you are potentially looking at a competitive field. If you are, the ROI for 20 an hour just isnt there. Spend that time studying and publishing.

I can't recommend it.

I tutored 3-5 hours a week my first two years for 60/hour. I definitely think it was worth it - time isn't nearly as crunched when you're on your own schedule (assuming non-mandatory classes).

I made up for it with a few extra hours of work on the weekends, but overall I felt like it was a definitely worthwhile commitment. Plus the extra ~200 a week actually made a significant dent in the amount of loans I needed to take out and made me feel a lot less guilty about spending money when I did do fun things.

I’m thinking of doing chart review remotely a couple hours during the week and early weekend mornings. I can do this from home in my own time. I get paid about 20 per hour and this would help a lot (I help my parents with bills). Would this look good for residency applications? It’s looking for patients that qualify for clinical trials for various liver diseases

10/10 not worth it. Only work that’s worth the effort is either paying hundreds an hour or is research related leading to publications. You will not have 20 hrs/w without sacrificing a lot.

I think a small part time job might be doable. Certainly med school TAs and tutors do it. Enjoy your limited free time as you like.

However, you're not going to be making anything more than pocket change. Unless this job is somehow super enriching for you, which it probably is not as you've done it long enough to get good at it, it seems a waste to stay.

You'll be making under $10 thousand per year. It would take more than that for me to give up even an extra 1-2 hours a night.
